GPS Clock FAQ
- In order to get good time synchronization accuracy all network components play an important role. There are several synchronization mechanisms, the most common ones are the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP) and Network Time Protocol (NTP)
- NTP and SNTP have the same Packet format only difference is the method of time synchronization with the client. NTP has sophisticated routines designed to monitor multiple time references and decide which is the best reference. NTP constantly checks multiple time references for jitter and offset and decides which is the best one to synchronize. NTP corrects time by slewing the system clock. The host’s system clock is accelerated or decelerated to slowly bring it into line with an accurate external time reference. Large stepped time adjustments are avoided. NTP has complex synchronization algorithms that calibrate the system clock to match the frequency of an accurate reference clock
- SNTP is a simplified version of the algorithms used by the NTP protocol. SNTP does not apply any algorithm like offset, jitter adjustment as applied by NTP. It directly steps the host system time rather than slowly slewing it towards the correct time. SNTP can be recommended only where accuracy and reliability are not too demanding
Step-1 To Establish Communication between GPS master clock & Laptop.
In the case of the following Model the procedures will remain the same in case if you have another model contact Masibus customer support for the different procedures.
Applicable Model Numbers:-MC-1/MC-1-DE/MC-1-DH
- Connect the Ethernet cable from the GPS master clock, NTP-1 port to your laptop/system
- Ensure the GPS master clock is locked with satellite & LED indication of GPS lock at the front side of clock should be yellow
- Check the ping command with default IP address
- Our default IP addresses for above said models are as given below:
- NTP-1, IP address is 192.168.100.153
- NTP-2, IP address is 192.168.100.154
- Now since we are connecting through the NTP-1 port , we will check ping reply from 192.168.100.153
- Open command prompt or Run ( Shortcut key i.e. Windows R) & give command i.e. ping 192.168.100.153 –t following by enter
- If it displays Error like transmit failed then your laptop may not be in the same domain so first you need to make your laptop IP i.e. 192.168.100.1 as shown below:
- Keep the mask as default whatever it takes automatically
- After configuring your laptop IP address in the same range as of GPS NTP port IP address, The ping reply will be there as shown below:
- Now the communication is established
Step-2 To Configure the IP Address by using the Telnet client
- Open command prompt or Run ( Shortcut key i.e. Windows R) & give command i.e. telnet following by enter
- If it gives you below error like window cannot find telnet then this might be your first time that you are using the “telnet” command
- Let’s enable the telnet client in your PC to go further:
- Go to the following path:
- Control panel\programs\programs and features\turn windows features On/off
- You will have the list of windows features like below:
- In that list, Check the telnet client & click on Ok button to save it. It may take a few minutes to save the changes.
- Now since the telnet is enabled in your PC again give the “telnet” command following by enter in Run as shown below:
- It will open the Microsoft Telnet where you need to type “ Open 192.168.100.153” following by enter ( After Open there is one space)
- It will open the Masibus telnet server window:
- Login- masibus & password- masibus
- After entering correct username & password in small letters it will display following screen:
- Now first type “H” to know the list of commands:
- We recommend you to change the first Mask & Gateway with the help of “MASK” & “GTY” commands respectively if required.
- In last change the IP address whatever you want to configure with the help of “IP” command
- While you type “IP” it will ask to enter the new IP address where you can enter the IP address i.e. I am changing the IP to 10.0.0.1 so I have type “IP” and it has asked me to enter the new IP and I have type my new IP and to save the settings it gives me confirmation then I am pressing “Y” and Enter two times
- Now after pressing enter twice the connection is lost because the IP has been changed
- Now check the ping reply with the new IP address & maybe you will not get the ping reply as you have not configured your laptop to the 10.0.0.1 series hence make your laptop domain to the same range & check
- RTD-PT100 Sensor
All three lead wires used for extension must have the same resistance and the same length. The extension will cause the resistance of the lead wires to affect the display temperature, so use lead wires with thick conductors. (OMRON does not carry lead wires for extension. Use commercially available lead wires)
- Thermocouples
Be sure to use compensating conductors for the extension. Also, select compensating conductors that suit the characteristics of the Thermocouple. Do not extend the lead wires with compensating conductors that do not suit the characteristics of the Thermocouple, or with ordinary lead wires, as this would prevent proper temperature measurement. Be sure also to connect the wires using the correct polarity (+/-)
- Transmitters input/output parameters are user configurable
- User can easily configure it by using “mTRAN”
- It is a windows based software used for configuring, calibration and monitoring the transmitters
- If you forget the password for the device then use master password to enter in the modes. Take a master password from the Masibus customer support. email: [email protected]
- When plugged into an outlet wired incorrectly, reverse polarity can easily damage the instruments. Reverse polarity protection is an internal circuit that ensures that the device is not damaged if the power supply polarity is reversed. Masibus transmitters are compatible with reverse polarity protection
- Yes, users can configure the direct/reverse output current/voltage using mTRAN software
- Offset parameter is used to nullify the dead weight i.e. base plate weight to have an actual measurement of material weight measurement. Once the user enters the indicated bare weight into an offset parameter, the device will automatically nullify the weight of the bare plate for an actual measurement. By this, the user can measure the actual weight by avoiding the dead weight value of base plate
- It is a normal fact that increase in load leads to decrease in the supply voltage. Hence the voltage supplied by the transformer to the load must be maintained within the prescribed limits. This can be done by changing the transformer turns ratio
- The taps are leads or connections provided at various points on the winding. The turns ratio differs from one tap to another and hence different voltages can be obtained at each tap
